Yemenia - Yemen Airways (IY)

Yemenia (IATA Code: IY) is the flag carrier of Yemen, their main operational base is Sana'a International Airport (IATA: SAH) from where they serve international and domestic routes. Originally they started operations in the late 1940's under the name Yemen Airlines. However, in 1962 when Yemen became the Yemen Arab Republic a new Air Operating Certificate was issued as the flag carrier of the country and effectively they started operations as a new airline.

The head office of the airline was destroyed in 2011 in the Yemeni Revolution of Dignity. On the 30th March 2015, Yemenia was forced to suspend all flight operations due to security issues and the ongoing military conflict which affected Sana'a International Airport. Yemenia has remained operational since the 01st February 2018 with an all Airbus fleet that is comprised of 3 Airbus A320-200's and 1 Airbus A310-300.
